Tidbits 4a Better Life
Sharing vs. Giving I once read an article by Victoria Moran were she stated "think as Generosity in terms of sharing rather than simply giving, and everyone will benefit." |
As a child I was often told good people sacrifice and give. It took me years to understand this concept; that is the difference of sharing with others vs. giving to your own detriment.
In giving it's possible to give until you have nothing left but with sharing you draw from what you actually have. It's OK to say no to financial solicitations without guilt, you can always share your time, your affection or your knowledge.
Generosity is a gift that is moved forward, were it goes is really none of our business, would you give a gift to a family member or friend and apply limits to its use? You may ask "What if the guy on the corner uses my dollar for booze? So what if the man who owns the liquor store gives that dollar to his church?
Generosity means literally, in spirit or act - but especially in giving, it has a life of its own.
Our job is to get the flow going, generosity itself takes over from there.
Check out Victoria Moran's many great books.
